Our Highest-Converting Asset Looks Like Shit (& That's Why It Works)
We have a 4x better converting asset than everything else and it's just screenshots

What's up, it's Zayd.
Valley has the usual marketing stuff. Pitch decks, landing pages, demo videos, one-pagers. Standard startup arsenal that costs thousands to produce and looks professional. But there's this one doc that destroys everything else in performance; 3-5x better conversion than any other asset. Highest open and click rates in our email sequences. People see it and sign up.
It's called "The Cool Message Bro."
It's literally just screenshots of Valley's actual outreach messages and how people responded to them. Real conversations. Real reactions.
"This is the best cold message I've ever received"
"Finally, something that doesn't feel like AI slop"
"How did you know exactly what I needed?"
Page after page of our messaging in action.
Right now it's just hundreds of raw screenshots. Not aesthetic. Doesn't look great, but it works better than anything our designers have made.

Why This Works Better Than Everything Else
Traditional marketing assets are promises.
"Our tool will help you do X."
"We increase Y by Z%."
"Companies love us."
This doc is proof. Actual screenshots of actual conversations.
You can see:
The exact message Valley sent
How the person responded
The tone, the engagement, the genuine surprise
There's no way to fake this. Most companies hide their actual messaging. They show you the results but not the work.
We do it because our messaging genuinely isn't AI slop and this doc proves it in a way that no landing page copy ever could.
The Implementation Challenge
Here's where I'm stuck: Should I clean up what we have or create a system to make these conversations look better?
Options:
Keep it raw and authentic (current state)
Design it properly but risk losing the authenticity
Create a dedicated landing page vs just a section on homepage
Figure out how to blur names/emails at scale while keeping it real
I prefer this over a deck because we can constantly update it with fresh screenshots. Static marketing assets have a shelf life. Your pitch deck is outdated the moment you change your positioning. Your case studies are only as recent as your last customer win.
But a living document of real conversations gets better over time.
Every week we add new screenshots. New examples. New proof points. The document gets stronger, not staler.
The Radical Transparency Advantage
Most B2B companies are scared of showing their work. What if competitors copy our messaging? What if people see our approach and replicate it?
The reality is that the same rules that prevented cheating on pre-calc exams apply here…showing your work builds trust faster than hiding it.
When prospects see exactly how Valley operates, they understand what they're buying. That builds confidence in a way that polished marketing never can.
Competitors can copy our messaging. They can copy our positioning. They can build similar features, but they can't fake 200 real conversations with real reactions unless their product actually delivers those results.
If you try to manufacture this kind of social proof, people can tell. The language feels off. The reactions feel too perfect.
Real proof has rough edges. That's what makes it believable.
This whole thing represents a shift in how I think about marketing. All you have to do is…
Show reality.
Your actual product. Your actual messages. Your actual customer conversations.
Disclaimer: This only works if your product is actually good. You can't fake quality with screenshots, but if your product delivers, showing the receipts is the most powerful marketing you can do.
This applies beyond just screenshots. It's about operational transparency as competitive advantage.
Show your pricing. Show your process. Show your results. Show your failures.
The companies willing to be radically transparent will win against the companies hiding behind polished marketing.
Let me know if you want to see this doc, by the way. Genuinely curious what people think.
